A Company Secretary (CS) is a professional responsible for ensuring that a company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements. They play a vital role in governance, advising the board of directors on matters related to legal compliance, corporate laws, and business ethics. They also manage corporate documentation, statutory filings, and communication with regulatory bodies. 

To pursue a career as a Company Secretary, students must register with the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI). The course is divided into three stages: Foundation, Executive, and Professional. Students need to pass the Foundation exams after completing their 10+2 and the Executive exams after graduation. Finally, the Professional program is the most advanced stage. Additionally, candidates are required to complete a mandatory training period and practical experience.  
 

The CS course covers subjects like corporate law, governance, taxation, accounting, finance, secretarial practice, and ethics. Students also learn about the functioning of companies, how to draft legal documents, and how to manage corporate affairs. This course equips students with the necessary knowledge and skills to handle legal, corporate, and compliance-related responsibilities in a company. Upon completion, a CS can work in various industries or even offer consultancy services.
